Rod Stewart
BBC doing a weekend thing about it, it seems.

What's WHOs view? I think some of his work is good, but there's plenty of shit and he seems like a proper cunt in person.

That was mentioned last night.

The music video was filmed in Devonport.

Re: Rod Stewart
With regards to his music.his early years as a bluesy singing teen were promising.
I felt that he would become a classy jazz singer.
But he became an ordinary pop singing legend.

His time with Python Lee Jackson proved he could really
rock.
And apart from a few tracks with the Faces and a couple of other songs, for me his musical career is largely forgettable.
An analysis of his personality is best left alone.

Anybody remember that TV program called Sailor following life on board HMS Ark Royal our last proper aircraft carrier, in which they used Sailing as sung by Rod Stewart?

He used to be a Rangers fan then decided to support Celtic instead.
Don't know how he got away with that.

Not bad music

If you're a 60 year old housewife

Utter tripe, he's been through a fair few sorts, kudos to that, but his music is fucking litter.

Re: ROD STEWART
another big hit of Rods, Tom Traubert's Blues, also a Tom Waits song. Now he is a talented artist, who has never gone for the tedious no emotion dirge that Rod has filled his latter career, and bank account, by doing.

Yeh I remembered Georgie, but I had that down as pre sailing (I think).

Cough

Down town train is a tom waits song.

Re: Rod Stewart
Downtown Train is an excellent track whoever wrote it, I particularly like the version done by Patty Smyth, John McEnroe's partner

Re: Rod Stewart
Are we saying that rather than listen to his post Faces output, we should just listen to Tom Waits, who wrote two of his three decent solo tracks?

Then I agree.

Post Faces there's Killing of Georgie, Downtown Train and Tom Traubert's Blues.

The rest is utter cack.

However, his early solo stuff and Jeff Beck Group and Faces career makes him a genuine legend.

IMHO.

Watched him in concert in Brisbane during April. Great show! Very polished performer who works the stage extremely well.

Re: Rod Stewart
He's English but tells everyone he's Scottish.

Supports Celtic but use to support Rangers. (Google Rod Stewart in Rangers shirt)

Fair play to him though for having the rock and roll lifestyle he has had for the past 40 plus years. Never heard anything really bad about him.

His music is not really my cup of tea though.

Re: ROD STEWART
I know a few lads who have played football at his place in Epping all said he was a great bloke.
He went down the pub afterwards with them, put a score in the whip, didn't act flash at all.

Re: ROD STEWART
while i was waiting for my mate in the golden heart on commercial street on friday rod's greatest hits were playing on the juke box
it was quite a nice way to while away a few minutes
he's made some really good stuff among the dross and doesn't take himself too seriously
